Rita Spark, the guiding genius of International Industries, has clawed her way up from poverty to a position of almost total power. Her only nemesis is Berkowitz, a genius- dropout who has used his talents to create a towering electronic pleasure palace that glows high above San Francisco Bay. Berkowitz risks his treasured obscurity to save a poor runaway imprisoned by medieval Middle Eastern potentates in a surreal international brothel. But the kingdom is the last link in Rita’s plan to control the world’s resources, and so Berkowitz confronts her in a climactic duel, computer versus computer, power against humanity - a thrilling, coruscating combat to the death, in the grand tradition of heroic battle against ail odds.
