SKETCHES, 1988, the fourth in a series of creative antholo­gies published by DoDDS-Germany, is in your hands to read, look at, and enjoy. Work in this anthology was written, painted, drawn, engraved, etched, photographed, and pre­pared in a variety of mediums by and for students, grades 7 - 12, and staff members in the DoDDS-G schools. This book recognizes those who contributed to the publication; we celebrate the excellence of their work.
It seems that each year the work done at the school level improves; material submitted for consideration is more carefully screened, directions are more carefully followed, and the overall quality continues to get better. It is clear that good things are happening in the worlds of composition, art, and photography in our schools. We hope that all who use this book will be as happily impressed with the excellence of the work as were the editors.
