As the field rapidly evolves, new generations of polymers are being developed with tunable properties, dynamic chemistries, and enhanced sustainability. Journal of Materials Science: Polymers provides a dedicated platform for the dissemination of high-quality, cutting-edge research across the full spectrum of polymer science and engineering. We welcome submissions that offer significant new insights into the chemistry, physics, processing, characterization, or application of polymers, with an emphasis on their distinctive role as a fundamental class of materials. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: Polymer synthesis and design, such as bio-based polymers and green chemistry; Polymer structure and morphology (e.g. crystallinity, gradient polymers, self-assembly); Advanced processing techniques (e.g. extrusion, electrospinning, additive manufacturing); Novel mechanical, thermal, optical and electrical properties; Smart and functional polymers, including self-healing, shape-memory, and stimuli-responsive systems; Sustainable polymer technologies, such as biodegradable, compostable or marine-degradable systems, polymer recycling and dynamic covalent networks; Functional polymer coatings and surface engineering, such as anti-microbial, low-VOC and renewable-sourced formulations; Polymers for energy and environmental applications, including membranes, batteries and solar cells, as well as environmental stewardship, microplastics and life cycle analyses. Journal of Materials Science: Polymers aims to serve as the focal point for original advances in polymeric materials at the nexus of performance and environmental responsibility. Experimental, theoretical and computational contributions are all welcome, including research articles, reviews, perspectives and short communications. .
