Preface.
The first concepts regarding causes of disease originated in religion. Disease was God’s punishment for sin. Subsequently, disease was attributed to environment, food, imbalance of the body’s humors, infections or other outside forces. Gradually, the pendulum has moved away from God to man. Disease is now coming to be seen as arising from causes within the person; i.e., nutrient inbalances and the body’s reactions to environmental changes. People have begun to take direct responsibility for their health, and our interest in nutrition is a symbol of this healthy change of attitude.
The treatment of disease has also become human-centered. Treatment began with the use of clays (inorganic); it moved to the use of plants, then to animal products (insulin), and finally to products within the person (nutrients, interferon, antibodies). The search for cure of disease has gone from the outside world to the world inside the body; that is, using the body’s God-given, natural healers.
The cause of disease in man is man. The harvest of the body’s natural nutrients and metabolites will keep the next generation of wholistic physicians busy, for every nutrient and potentially every natural chemical within the body is a potential healer.
This amino acid book is a contribution to the understanding of God’s natural healers within the body. Of all these substances, amino acids may be the most important. There are many of them; at least twenty are critical to health. ...
