We seek to publish high-quality work that: identifies barriers and determinants of physical activity; elucidates the behavioural, physiological, psychological, biomechanical, and molecular mechanisms by which movement influences health; evaluates the design, prescription, and efficacy of exercise-based interventions for maintaining good health & disease. prevention, pre- and post-treatment rehabilitation, and chronic disease management & treatment; and develops scalable strategies to promote sustained physical activity and exercise behaviours. Topics include, but are not limited to: · Clinical Exercise Medicine: pre-rehabilitation, rehabilitation, and exercise prescription as an adjunct or standalone therapy to prevent, manage, and treat cardiometabolic, musculoskeletal, neurocognitive, and mental health conditions. · Exercise Biology & Physiology: molecular pathways, metabolic responses, adaptation · Exercise Biomechanics: movement analysis, load management, injury risk reduction during physical activity · Injury Prevention: movement to prevent and treat injuries · Nutrition: dietary strategies to optimise the health outcomes of physical activity and exercise interventions · Policy: workplace and community interventions, policy frameworks that shape physical activity behaviours · Social Determinants & Equity: socioeconomic, cultural and environmental factors influencing access to and engagement in physical activity and exercise · Technology & Engineering: wearables, sensors, digital health platforms, and exercise-tracking innovations · Urban Design and Physical Activity The journal welcomes original research, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, short communications, and commentaries that collectively move the field toward more effective, evidence-based exercise as medicine to improve health. The journal offers more choice to Nature Portfolio authors who are seeking a fully open-access and more inclusive platform for publishing their work.
