Анотація:
Wild flowers growing in the canyon lands of the western United States often seem paradoxical — blossoming oases in the midst of arid, craggy terrain. The canyon lands— located in the Four Corners region where the states of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah meet — are a harsh area, extreme in temperature, low in moisture, and rugged in configuration. Shaped by the timeless influence of wind and water, the area is well known for massive landforms and unimpeded vistas. But wild flowers contribute much to the beauty of this area as well, as this book lovingly attests.
Flowers of the Canyon Country is the result of the concentrated effort of two men who have been long interested in the wealth of beauty found in the West. Although they have collaborated previously on brief articles and features, the first edition of this book in 1971 was the first time they had united their talents to provide a book not only informative, scholarly, and artistic, but also indicative of the interest in the vast, largely unknown region of the Southwest.
