A key aim of the journal is to promote the visibility and reach of innovative articles exploring new pathways in underrepresented areas in biology, and pushing the boundaries of research and technology in those spaces. Areas that are considered in scope for include but are not limited to: Microbiology (bacteriology, virology, protistology, mycology and parasitology) Environmental and animal microbiome Toxicology, particularly environmental toxicology Biochemistry, biophysics and structural biology Genetics, genome editing and synthetic biology Molecular and cell biology Enzymology Phytopharmacology and veterinary pharmacology, including drug design and drug delivery Plants sciences and ecology Algae and marine organisms Zoology and veterinary science Environmental sciences and environmental management - including water treatment, bioremediation, soil pollution Agriculture and crop science Nano-safety in biology .
