As from January 1, 2008 Visual Geosciences is no longer accepting papers as the journal has been discontinued. Please notice that the existing publications of Visual Geosciences are guaranteed permanent existence. Visual Geosciences (formerly Electronic Geosciences) is a multimedia, electronic journal that covers the entire spectrum of the Earth Sciences, including planetary and environmental geoscience. Our aim is to provide a medium for rapid electronic publication of peer-reviewed, first-class, research papers as well as some freely accessible, unrefereed materials, with electronic presentation of scientific data in a variety of multimedia formats that are outside the scope of standard print journals. Original Articles are contributions written in the same form as ordinary journal articles, but may include any of the multimedia formats. Reviewers are asked to deliver their assessments within 6 weeks. Technical Communications use graphical or audio devices to illustrate "how-to-do-it". Reviewers are asked to respond within 6 weeks. Conference Reports offer the possibility of publishing illustrated reports on the specialist conferences (or topical symposia). Conference reports are not peer reviewed but are checked by the editor. Discussion Papers are short, topical, possibly controversial, poster-like publications. Discussion papers are reviewed only by the editor and published very quickly. Discussion is encouraged by inviting readers to comment, with instructions on how to do this. Contributions in Visual Geosciences are published individually. All contributions are submitted and refereed (where applicable) electronically, via e-mail to the Editor-in-Chief. Please note that it is also possible to use Visual Geosciences as a repository for data summaries that may relate to longer paper articles that may be published elsewhere. The editorial board hereby welcomes submission of papers for Visual Geosciences. This journal is accessible on the World Wide Web free of charge for Vol. 1–3, and long-term access is guaranteed. There will be an annual printed issue including a CD-ROM for documentation purposes.
