The story of an American girl who moves to Japan with her family, expecting to live in a Japanese house, wear Japanese clothes, and to play with Japanese children. Instead, she finds herself in Rainbow Village, living with other American families. Still, she meets Japanese children and learns to speak their language. She even gets a Japanese pet.
